The Warren Court was certainly the most famous. Most of the court rulings we know by name, from elementary school, come from this court. Brown v. Board of Education, Reynolds v. Sims, Miranda v. Arizona. (i.e. Miranda rights) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Warren_cour鈥?/a>

Why are these controversial? Change is controversial, even if it's progress. What were some of the Warren Court鈥檚 (Supreme Court) more controversial cases? Why were they controversial?
Earl Warren was a right-wing, almost reactionary judge whom the Republicans were drooling to get on the US Supreme Court. They finally get him approved, and he goes and pushes the liberal view of ';Brown v Board of Education!'; (Little Rock, ARK school segregation struck down). Over and over again, Warren backed the more liberal interpretations of laws of the 50s and 60s.
