Is there a term for persons falsely admitting crime for high profile cases?

Is it a mania? a syndrome? or plain mental problem? This Jon Bennet Ramsey's case is not the first time, lots of them happen, that confuses the relatives of victims. Are there psychological analysis done to this type of person? Is there a psychological term for them?Is there a term for persons falsely admitting crime for high profile cases?
Karr first became obsessed with child pornography, then he transferred his feelings into actions by touching some of his students in California and other places. His obsession with the Ramsey case is just that an obsession, he believes in his own mind that he is the killer and was with her, and wants to be with her, because in his warped world she is the ideal, the perfect little girl, the perfect in death and life, she became an outlet for his sick fantasies about little girls.Is there a term for persons falsely admitting crime for high profile cases?
