What kind of cases would be held in a court of appeals?

Appeals from lower courts. The only time this isn't true would be if the appellate court has original jurisdiction over a case or controversy - for example, the only place that states can settle their disputes with other states is in the Supreme Court. What kind of cases would be held in a court of appeals?
Appeals courts don't try cases. They only hear appeals from cases that are being or have already been tried in Trial courts. Appeals courts don't decide the facts. That happens at the trial court level. They only decide if there's been an error in a legal decision that the trial court made, not whether the facts were decided wrong.
