Hello Lacey. If it helps at all, warrents will not expire. Once in the computer here in Ohio, they stay active and just wait. That also means a visit in front of the judge. You can call the Clerk of Courts to find out what is owed, but plan on being detained long enough to satisfy the court system. Show up with at least half of the fine plus another hundred or so for personal bond. Do not show up on a Monday morning or after a major holiday. The courts are busiest then. Come in early in the morning Tuesday thru Friday and chances are excellent you will see the Judge by midday. Dress respectful to the court, dont show an attitude and with just a little luck the Judge will allow a bond so hubby can come home. Best of luck to you and I hope you find this usefulWere in Ohio and my Husband has 5 traffic cases with warrant blocks for not paying his fines like he should of
Maybe, maybe not. Here in Ohio, for something like traffic fines, all he would have to do is show up at court and pay them. Many times warrants are set for people, we enter them and next thing you know the person pays down at court for their fines and the court recalls the warrant, thus the person is not ';arrested'; in our system and never booked.

More serious crimes this does not happen, you have to be booked, fingeprinted, go through the whole process, but if they're simple traffic tickets he should be able to do that.
Chances are he will have to face a magistrate and will be found guilty of contempt and fined several thousand. This happened to me when I was young. I don't know if the statue runs out on those tickets after 7 years. Call the court to find out.
Once the warrant has been issued, the arrest process must be performed. Basically, it says that he failed to show up first time, and now he'll have to set bail to make sure he shows up again. I'd think that bail would be the same as paying the ticket, and in some places it is. But in other places, it's mandatory to go to court, where they may add fines for Contempt of Court.

In your husband's case, it's good that he has the money to pay the fines, but he still needs to be prepared for it taking a couple hours longer, and going through the unpleasantries of booking, before getting back out. And he may still have to show up in court and pay more, too.

Hint: If he does have to show up in court, he wants to plead either Not Guilty, or Guilty With Explanation. The reason is that he wants to make sure the judge knows, before passing sentence, that your husband turned himself in. Otherwise, as far as the judge knows, it was the cops that picked up your husband and he may end up paying maximum fines.
