For each of the following cases, state whether the density of the object increases, decreases, or remains the same.

(a) A sample of chlorine gas is compressed.

(b) A lead weight is carried from sea level to the top of a high mountain.

(c) A sample of water is frozen.

(d) An iron bar is cooled.

(e) A diamond is submerged in water.

a) increases.

b) remains the same.

c) decreases.

d) increases.

e) remains the same. For each of the following cases, state whether the density of the object increases, decreases, or remains the?
I'm guessing....

A. increases

B. remains

C. increases

D. increases

E. remains.

Keep in mind that I guessed on those. You ought to take a swing at the questions yourself.
a. increase b.remain the same c.decrease d.decrese e.same
Density is basically the amount of something in a certain amount of space. So...

a) Gas spreads to fill any available space. So if you take all the gas in a room and compress it into a small can you have the same amount of gas but in a smaller area. So density INCREASES

b)No matter where you take the weight it is still the same amount of lead in the same amount of space even though the amount it weighs might change. So the density REMAINS SAME.

c)When something gets colder its atoms come closer together so you have more atoms in a smaller space. So the density INCREASES.

d)Same reason as above. INCREASES

e)Um... I would say it REMAINS is probably the answer. However the water might put pressure on the diamond and cause it to take up less space. Although this would be very hard to measure and very technical so I would go with it REMAINS.
a) increases b) remains the same c) decreases

d) increases e) increases, but so little that just about impossible to measure
