Hey and good luck! the doctors done the same thing to me and I was actually told my baby was downs or had spina bifida and they wanted to do an abortion at 16 weeks and I refused. Needless to say that my 6 year old son is fine and is very intelligent he will going into the 2nd grade this year and is only 6. Just keep your head up and do not get stressed out that is unsafe for you and Isiaah. Nothing not one thing is wrong with my child other than the fact that he is as mean as a 2 headed snake. So Good Luck and keep us posted on what the tests say I am sure others are wanting to know the results also. Sometimes they just aren't as accurate as they are put out to be. I am so sorry for you and will keep you in my prayers. When faced with adversities don't give up...look up. God is the answer. Say a prayer and give it to God...He performs miracles that no man can understand. God bless the child...AMEN.
It seems to be dependent on if the fetus has just Hydrops or if it has sacrococcygeal teratomas (SCT) too. The site below says that if both are occurring, the fetus would die by 30 weeks gestation.





Surgery to remove the tumor is the only way to really cure the problem, and then the success rate seems to be very good. The surgery can be done in utero or if the baby makes it to term, it can be delivered then operated on.
depends on the aetiology (cause) and onset (the age of the fetus when it occured). Some are treatable while some are not. you need to give us more info.

Well I went in for a routine ultrasound on 11/2/04 (I took my mom with me thank God) the doctors won't tell us much more than it was a boy but we need to get a high tech ultrasound with a specialist. We spent 4 hours walking the mall and thinking the worst of thoughts. At the specialists office that afternoon my mom and I were told that the baby had 2 very rare diseases. Fetal hydrops and cystic hygroma. They gave us 98% mortality rate before birth. Since my husband didn't have a cell phone I had to wait over 8 hours to tell him. Boy, that is hard to tell your husband that he finally is going to have a son but even if the baby does make it to full term quality of life is going to be really bad. Thankfully the doctors had waited so long to schedule my ultrasound that I was one day past legally getting an abortion in any state so we didn't even have to make that decision. After 13 days of daily ultrasounds, amnios, blood tests, DNA tests, etc. We went for another ultrasound and there was no heartbeat. We were sent to the hospital for them to induce labor. In 48 hours we found out we lost a baby, delivered a 2 lb 4 oz breech stillborn, planned and attended our son's funeral. That is the first funeral of a loved one I ever had to attend. On 11/16/04 our son was born and on 11/18/04 he was buried. Death is hard enough to deal with without it being your own child. I search the internet over on this subject and didn't find much about survival. If I were you I would start making memories now. Belly cast, memory quilt for the hospital, etc.
I'll pray too. If he's growing correctly then his other troubles might turn out to be OK. Babies surprise medicine all the time. Keep your faith.
