We all know they people don't age discriminate in hiring don't we!Should you put the dates of your education on a resume? It is a giveaway of your age in most cases.?
I always put dates.Should you put the dates of your education on a resume? It is a giveaway of your age in most cases.?
Age isn't a factor. Credentials, work experience, references, and (to a small extent) apperance are factors. When applying for a front desk job, the person needs to be presentable- no visible tatoos, have all of their teeth, etc... I've never turned a person away from a job because of their age. It was other reasons, like other candidates were more qualified. You need to remember that you are not the only person applying for your job and the employer is going to pick the person that is best candidate as well as the person that fits in well with the rest of the staff. You need to work on making yourself more marketable.
I think you should. Advantage or Disadvantage is that the employer will know how much experience you have in the field of your degree/education. Also, if an employer is interested in knowing your age, most probably they will judge from your appearance when you go to the interview.
I know they do discriminate but in a proper resume formation, yes, you need dates! You would get marked down a lot if you didn't include them....before you ever got in the door for an interview.
Hi, I'm in HR. It is proper form to put dates of education on your resume. If you graduated and received a degree, the date it was awarded should be on there too. It isn't your age that we think you are hiding without the dates, but maybe the fact that you didn't finish school. The other answerer is also right, if someone wanted to, your age can be guessed at from a lot of different factors on your resume. Your work history will go back farther the older you are, for example. Put everything on that resume, the truth is that even though there are cases of discrimination in real life, you wouldn't want to work for someone who thinks that way, anyway.
No. Yes we know, but they do.
Your age can be estimated from lots of the info on your resume. You'd be surprised. I think that it's a good idea to put dates on your resume because it matters. For instance it could show you working while in school. For some jobs, the experience doesn't count unless it's after you achieve the degree.
Here is the main thing, employers won't call an applicant and ask them for clarifying information. They'll just dump the resume and move on the one that's complete.
So just put it in and give yourself the best chance of getting a call for an interview.
You should always place education dates on a resume. Not many companies will accually check with the institution for accuaracy but they like to have the power to do so. By leaving this information out of your resume, it appears that you are attempting to hide something and many companies will frown upon this.
I never knew that people don't discriminate
You should put the dates so that they can see your experiance and how updated your knowledge is.
