What are some of the worse cases of child abuse?

The worst case that i have ever experienced in my career was one where the mother burned the child's name into his skin with a very hot knife and then locked him in a closet for 2 days without food and water. She was arrested.What are some of the worse cases of child abuse?
The ones where religious people force their kids to go to church before they have even had a chance to develop any critical thinking skills, and indoctrinate them with all kinds of supernatural fantasies and ridiculous fairy tales about some big invisible angry sky daddy watching everything they do. Happens all the time, and unfortunately it's not illegal. Physical abuse may be pretty bad, but there's no worse way to mess with a kid's mind.What are some of the worse cases of child abuse?

Gary Gilmore was abused badly, but that doesn't excuse what he did. his brother wrote a book called ';Shot in the Heart'; about it.
There is a book called ';A child named it'; that was described as the worst case of child abuse ever seen where the child did not die.
I recall one where a mother locked her three year old out onto her porch. He froze to death and she was charged for his death. There are actually many more, but this one sticks in my mind the most.
